Waving Goodbye

Blogger have just informed me that the old blogger interface is going shortly. My health is not good most days and I can't struggle with the new interface that doesn't format properly, schedule properly and who's only good thing seems to be to re size pictures better. And don't start me on the horrible new verification.

I know a lot of you don't like Facebook, but its easier than this load of codswallop. Have a happy life, I am not going to spend the time I have left, fighting Blogger.

Just a point - google doesn't seem to index fb entries and photographs, so I'll have to think about tumblr or pininterest.

I can only apologise but enough is enough for me. I loved Blogger when I started.

Short Break

I wish - its cold here. I have some medical problems to sort out and need a hopefully short break. I can still be found on Facebook as I find that easier to use but will be away from here for a few weeks. Thanks for all your support. Back when I can.

Changes

Because of ill health I've had to close some of my art blogs. As long as I can I'll keep this blog going but will reduce the number of pictures to two a day and the evening picture will not be posted. I am posting old photographs in my other blog

http://theedwardians.blogspot.com/

and on FaceBook

Oh well - if at first ...

Mixing different periods on the this my main blog seemed like a good idea but is confusing the hell out of me, if no-one else. I've just acquired several hundred new Newlyn/British Impressionist pictures in addition to the pile I already have of Victorian/Edwardian. I guess the first idea I had of making separate blogs makes more sense. It gives viewers a better choice and stops me posting to this blog every few hours.

I will be making a few minor changes in that I will be adding more pictures from new catalogues I've bought that often aren't on the net. Though I'm not in the trade I do regularly check the main dealers and auctions and want to highlight more pictures for sale that others might be interested in. I also want to include posts on artists biographies and technical details. I hope in time to add more detailed separate 'catalogues' on the main artists I personally research.

My health is still pretty awful but since I can't go out much I will try to keep these blogs up as long as I can. Who knows I may get better!

I do welcome comments and will try to help with queries and valuations when I can - but bear in mind I am only an interested amateur. I'm retired now but regret not buying more pictures when I was younger. But I was busy flying all over the world and it didn't seem so important then.

Changes

I'm continuing with my own work on British art history and its obvious that the Newlyn and British Impressionism artists and schools overlap much more than I originally thought. So I will in the future include them on this blog along with some later 'modern' art I think is important.

When I have more time I will also include more text to try and explain these lovely pictures and their context. I will still include features of life in this period, though those interested may like to look at my other blog

http://theedwardians.blogspot.com/

The other blogs now incorporated here will be:

http://newlynschoolpainters.blogspot.com/
http://20artselected.blogspot.com/
http://dorotheasharp.blogspot.com/

The period covered here was roughly meant to follow Messum's (dealer) but they start at 1750 and I prefer roughly 1837 - the start of the Victorian era.

I'm aware that my Pre-Raphaelite blog could be included here

http://preraphaelitepaintings.blogspot.com/

but I'm still finding out so much about that 'movement' and the artists involved that I would prefer to keep the blogs separate, despite some obvious overlaps.

Blog Update

I'm changing my blogs at the moment and this blog will concentrate on more in-depth features rather than just random pictures from my very large collection though there will still be features on Victorian / Edwardian life and pictures I want to feature. But I particularly want to feature articles on individual artists and their works. Feedback welcome. This will include artists I formerly included in my Newlyn and Impressionist blogs.

Later 20th century art will be on my

http://20artselected.blogspot.com/

blog. I'm also including more news items you might find interesting on my Facebook page:

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=344914662912

Up to now I've restricted myself to British artists, but I've had so many requests to include others that I will include some foreign artists I particularly like.

I'm also often asked what other blogs readers might want to view alongside this one. There are so many good ones, but to mention ones that I read more or less every day:

Art and Architecture mainly
http://melbourneblogger.blogspot.com/

Dolls from the Attic
http://dollsfromtheattic.blogspot.com/

I am a Child (Children in Art History)
http://iamachild.wordpress.com/

Three Pipe Problem
http://www.3pipe.net/

Underpaintings
http://underpaintings.blogspot.com/

and my own
Pre-Raphaelite blog
http://preraphaelitepaintings.blogspot.com/

and there are so many other good ones.

*** later update ***

Because of my health I'm going to have to move, so updates may be errratic over the next few months - especially if I lose my internet connection.
